pizza cupcakes

about a month ago, daniel and i went to a slow food gainesville event that doubled as a pizza party. frank, the owner of blue highway pizza (go! one of the top 3 places to go for pizza in gainesville) taught a mini-class on pizza making and we all gorged ourselves on pizza, flat bread, and desserts that we pot lucked.

for this occasion, i made

pizza red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting.

the red velvet cake represents the sauce and the cream cheese frosting was colored to look like cheese and toppings on thee pizza (frosting crust, icing pepperoni, and green sugar sprinkle oregano).

we were in a hurry so i dressed up a regular box of red velvet cake.

next, time for crust (a job for a steady hand)...

and pepperoni and slice marks (and a hint of oregano)...

and some clever maneuvering to get them to the event in one piece :)
